About Ayati Trust

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is the primary government authority responsible for shaping, executing, and regulating Sri Lanka’s public healthcare policy and national medical infrastructure. Tasked in safeguarding the health and well-being of the population, the Ministry oversees the administration of primary, secondary, and tertiary care facilities nationwide. It drives national health initiatives, implements disease prevention strategies, and ensures equitable access to quality curative care.

Through continuous policy development, healthcare innovation, and the deployment of qualified medical personnel, MOH strengthens the country’s public health ecosystem. As a key strategic partner, MOH works alongside Ayati by providing crucial clinical expertise and medical staff to support children with disabilities nationwide.

Hemas Holdings PLC, together with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, initiated Ayati in 2016 as Sri Lanka’s first National Centre for Children with Disabilities. Hemas funded a significant share of the initial capital required to establish the Centre and has remained a founding partner of the Ayati Trust.

Mr. Abbas Esufally, a Group Director of the Hemas Holdings Board, represents Hemas on the Ayati Trust and serves as its Deputy Chairman. Hemas has continuously provided funding to the Ayati Trust to sustain the National Centre. Through the Hemas Outreach Foundation, Hemas also leads initiatives for children with intellectual disabilities, including World Down Syndrome Day, the Ayati Sports Club, and the Voice of Parents programme.

MAS Holdings Ltd. joined as a corporate partner of the Ayati Trust in 2018. Mr. Ajay Amalean, a founding Director of MAS Holdings, joined the collaboration to help establish Sri Lanka’s first National Centre for Children with Disabilities.

MAS made a significant investment in the construction of the Centre and continues to fund the state-of-the-art Audiology Unit, providing world-class hearing and diagnostic services for children and adults across the country. Through its internationally recognized expertise in organizational excellence, strategy deployment, and continuous improvement, MAS is leading Ayati’s transformation into a Centre of Excellence, supporting its vision to deliver best-in-class disability services and become a benchmark for South Asia.

The Roshan Mahanama Trust, founded by former Sri Lankan legendary cricketer Roshan Mahanama, is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children across Sri Lanka. The Trust focuses on four key pillars: disability, pediatric cancer, education, and emergency intervention, working with partners to create meaningful and lasting impact.

As a valued partner of Ayati, the Trust has supported the National Centre for Children with Disabilities by raising funds to help sustain its services and ensure that children receive free, multidisciplinary care. The Trust has also been a strong advocate for disability inclusion, helping increase public awareness and mobilize support for Ayati’s mission.
